Ball Handling Programs

alex maroko

Q: Hey Alex…thanks for being here. Now, in the last 6 months, I’ve gotten to know you really well and how well you know your stuff, but for everyone out there who is being introduced to you for the first time, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

A: Sure…my background is certainly a little different than most of the traditional basketball trainers out there, as most of what I believe in and preach is based more on my own proven experiences and the proven experiences of others…not what certain textbooks say, what labcoat dudes theorize or what the “internet chatter” is gossiping about.

I’ve been training basketball players for more than 6 years now, but the person I selfishly care about most when it comes to training is me (surprise!). I won’t recommend or test anything on any players until I’ve tried it out with me or with a couple of the braver athletes I train.

And beyond that, I’ve been helping athletes in more than 35 countries in the last year with my athletic training products, from Truth About Quickness to The Effective Ball-Handling Program to the recently released Flying in Four vertical jump program.

I also run an online personal training service where I work personally with athletes from all over the world.

Lastly, I’ve spent thousands of my own dollars on books, manuals, and products to continue to stay ahead of the pack in terms of training basketball players and all athletes, along with studying Kinesiology at one of the top programs in the country at Michigan State University.

Personally, I used to be really slow, weak and AWFUL ball-handler (thanks a lot mom and pops), but through a lot of my own training discoveries and testing, I’ve come across several ways to rapidly improve ball handling and dribbling skills, many of which allowed me to make it to a very high-level of college basketball.

I’m also incredibly funny and a little sarcastic — most people like it, but I can rub people the wrong way once in a while with my unwavering honesty :-)

Q; Your Effective Ball-Handling Program was first released last year and had a HUGE response…it seems like everyone who used it loved it. Can you tell us more about how it came about and how it works so well?

A: Sure. Growing up, I always had this one wild goal of playing college basketball. I say wild since I was always smaller, slower, weaker and less skilled than everyone around me. But I was a smart, if not overly-confident teenager and I believed in myself to the nth degree. So I took a real look and what I needed to do to get to the promised land of college basketball.

I figured out ways to improve my speed, my vertical jump and my strength…but those things do take time, and I didn’t have lots of it. I decided if I could really improve my skills rapidly, that it would be enough to push me over the edge. Now I wasn’t talking about becoming a little better shooter or ball-handler…when I say improve my skills, my mind was getting to NBA point-guard skill level status (what can I say? I like to set the bar high!).

So I went to work…training myself everyday for hours and hours, while also training other local basketball players from guys who played professionally in Europe to local college and high school players, and I started experimenting with every idea my crazy mind could come up with.

And pretty soon, I started to see some patterns. I found certain drills and exercises that seemed to work a whole lot better than others — and I kept working from there. I added new twists to old drills, and old twists to new drills. I was like a lab scientist mixing and matching every potion and chemical I could think of.

Within a pretty short amount of time, I had myself one heck of a “ball handling formula” on my hands.

Once I had that formula, everything from there on out was a cinch…ball handling became simple.

I could take almost any basketball player (I wouldn’t say all, maybe like 98%) and quickly turn them into a ball handling phenom who owned the trust of their coaches and could cross up any defender, at any time.

Pretty soon, word starting getting out about all these players who were just tearing it up for their own teams and people starting coming to me asking for the secret. It got overwhelming with all the attention and questions, so I finally just decided to write a book on all of it and design the ultimate 16-week dribbling program using that same formula, which is now known as The Effective Ball-Handling Program.

Q: That’s awesome man…I’ve been through EBH several times, and I love it…I think I learn a new ball-handling secret or insight every time I go through it. You said it’s a 16-week program, but how quickly can players expect to see results?

A: Good question Dan. I think I’m going to dislike this answer since a good salesman would just say “immediately” to sell more copies, but the truth is, it depends.

We’ve seen players use EBH and start crossing over all their teammates in practice within a week…just 7 days of use.

It might take longer for others…like you said, it’s a 16-week program, but I can  confidently say almost everyone sees some pretty impressive results within the first 4 weeks…those first 4 weeks seem to be really powerful for a lot of EBH users.

Q: Is The Effective Ball-Handling Program for beginner basketball players, or advanced basketball players, or both?

A: GREAT question. EBH works unbelievably well for both! How?

Well, inside the 16-week program, it’s been broken down into four different sections:

1. Beginner

2. Intermediate I

3. Intermediate II

4. Advanced

At the end of each section is something I call a “Testing Day”. It’s a combination of specific move and drills found only in EBH that you have to be able to complete in a certain amount of time, at a certain speed to move onto the next level.

Beginners simply start at the beginning, and if you think you’re more advanced, you just go ahead and try and pass one of the later Testing Days (I’ve had professional basketball players not be able to pass Intermediate I Testing Day…most of the advanced players start at Intermediate I and work their way up).

It’s great because you always have a way to track your progress, and you also ALWAYS have a great challenge in front of you…something always pushing you to be better.

Q: Amazing man…now are there videos? Can people using EBH actually see all the drills being performed so they know exactly how to do everything?

A: Yes! We filmed an entire exclusive video library of every drill, move and exercise you get instant access to when you

get Effective Ball-Handling. And it’s actually me performing everything for you — not some hired players or something, you get me going through everything for you!

Q: Cool. Thanks a lot for taking the time to do this with us Alex.

A: Not a problem Dan…Anything for you and all of your terrific subscribers.
